Hospital Income Plan

Hospital stays can be expensive. A daily benefit can help defray that expense, especially if your basic medical plan has a high deductible.

The benefits from the Hospital Income Plan are paid directly to you, or anyone you choose, to use any way you decide. With these benefits, all of your out-of-pocket Hospital expenses don't have to be paid out of your own pocket.

This plan may not be available in all states.

THIS IS A HOSPITAL CONFINEMENT INDEMNITY POLICY. THE POLICY PROVIDES LIMITED BENEFITS. This limited health benefit plan (1) does not constitute major medical coverage, and (2) does not satisfy the individual mandate of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) because the coverage does not meet the requirements of minimum essential coverage.

For the state of NY only:  This policy provides limited benefits health insurance only. It does NOT provide basic hospital, basic medical or major medical insurance as defined by the New York State Department of Financial Services.

FAQs

  • I already have Hospital insurance. Why would I need this plan?

This plan is designed to provide a benefit that you may need to help keep up with inflationary health costs. Benefits are paid directly to you, so you may use them where you need help the most. Of course, you may assign benefits to your doctor or Hospital if you wish, the decision is yours.

  • How much protection could I get?

Daily benefits of $55 to $165 are available to members and spouses or domestic partners in units of $11. Eligible unmarried dependent children can be insured for $55 to $110 each; one premium covers all your children.

If you're age 65 and over you're eligible to consider the $55-Per-Day-Plan - for yourself, your spouse, and applicable children.

    Note
: The insurance applied for, when combined with all other hospital income insurance you may have in force, may not exceed $250 per day in total benefits paid. Benefits under this Group Policy will be reduced by the excess amount, and premiums paid for the excess amount will be returned.

Those under age 65 may enroll for an amount not to exceed $165 per day; those age 65 and over may enroll in the $55-Per-Day Plan only. • How do I file a claim?

You simply request a claim form from the Insurance Administrator. You and your doctor complete the form stating why and how long you were Hospitalized for a covered Injury or Sickness. Return the form to the Insurance Administrator and they will expedite your payment.

  • Do I have to meet with an insurance agent?

Issuance of this coverage is handled over the Internet and the mail. You can review the materials in the privacy of your home and purchase your coverage directly through the mail without meeting with an agent. You can, of course, talk to a licensed representative if you’d like. Please view the Contacts section for the toll–free number.

  • What if I have second thoughts after I enroll?

You will have 30 days from the date of receipt to review the insurance certificate. If you are not satisfied with the terms of the certificate, simply return it to the Insurance Administrator and any premiums paid will be refunded in full, minus any claims paid.
